Max's Ice Cream To Remain Open Through October

One more summer season and a last chance for pumpkin ice cream this fall.

Max's Best Ice Cream will remain open at its current location at 2416 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Glover Park through Oct. 31, according to a statement released by both his attorney and the attorney for the landlords.

Max's Best owner, Max Keshani, had previously been facing the termination of his lease effective the end of June

Community outcry over his untimely departure resulted in extended negotiations between Keshani's attorney and the attorney for his landlords, Gail and Barbara Bassin.

They release the following join statement over the weekend:

"Max’s Best Ice Cream will continue in business at 2416 Wisconsin Avenue through October 31, 2013.  Max and Gail and Barbara Bassin, the owners of the property, have agreed that this represents a fair and reasonable outcome for all involved.  It gives Max and the community the benefit of having Max’s Best Ice Cream in Glover Park for the entire 2013 summer and part of the fall.  We are grateful to John Snedden and Rocklands Barbeque without whose active support this arrangement could not have been achieved."

Keshani has operated his cash-only homemade ice cream business at the small shop on Wisconsin Ave for more than 20 years.

When his new extension ends, neighboring small business Rocklands Barbeque, 2418 Wisconsin Ave. NW, will expand into the space at 2416 Wisconsin Ave. NW.
