Pizzeria Paradiso Ages Gracefully, Celebrates 20 Years in D.C.

The pizzeria first opened in Dupont Circle and later expanded to Georgetown and Old Town, Va.

, a neighborhood eatery known for its authentic pizzas with fresh ingredients and a rigorously maintained craft beer list, celebrates 20 years of business at its three D.C. area locations, including Georgetown, this week.

Chef and owner Ruth Gresser opened her first location in Dupont Circle Nov. 8, 1991. At a preview event last week, Gresser said she remembers getting her license from the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs around 9:30 or 10 a.m., opening the doors at 11 a.m. and welcoming her first customers minutes later.

"We have regulars who have been with us for 20 years," said Gresser, wearing a flour-smeared apron and a proud smile.
