Shake Shack Opens in Dupont, Walk There to Earn It

Walk, bus, drive or bike over to Shake Shack in Dupont Circle for shakes, burgers, dogs and more.

Today D.C. residents lined up for their first taste of a Madison Square Park original right here in Dupont Circle. Shake Shack opened its doors at 1216 18th Street at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning with a "roadside" burger stand menu in a green-design building that utilized recycled and sustainable materials.

The menu is simple, offering burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, beer and wine to the eager customers who stand on line in New York and now D.C.

The Dupont Circle menu features specialty items inspired by its new city: Presidential Sweet (vanilla custard, peanut butter sauce, marshmallow, Michel Cluizel caramel milk chocolate chunks), Majority Whip (vanilla custard, crepe crispies, seasonal fruit and whipped cream) and Washington Monu-Mint.
