Shop Georgetown: Sherman Pickey

Patch asks local small businesses about their holiday plans.

Patch is talking to small businesses in Georgetown this week as we gear up for Small Business Saturday.

We received these answers from Sherman Pickey's Ethan Drath. The store is located in the Book Hill section of Georgetown at 1647 Wisconsin Ave. NW.

For women we are selling great leather handbags from Annabelle Ingall in an array of colors. Also popular has been our cashmere ponchos from Captiva Cashmere that come in one size and thus take the guess work out of sizing.

For men, we are doing well with sport shirts from Peter Millar and quarter zip cashmere sweaters from Kinross Cashmere. In fact, many customers have been pairing the shirts with sweaters and are giving them as outfits for the holidays.

Any crazy prep (lots of special orders, decorations, etc.)?

We are lining up trunk shows to help people celebrate the holidays with special items for men and women. Look for holiday party dresses from Kirribilla, jewelry with Kira Kira and men's ties from Peter Blair.

What are your holiday hours?

We are open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays and noon - 5 p.m. on Sundays. We are generally closed Mondays, but will be open on Dec. 17 and 24 for the holiday season.

What's your favorite part of the holiday season?

Personally, I love the decorations and crisp air that generally comes with the season.

Where are you going to holiday shop/dine locally?

Naturally, a good deal of my shopping will be done here at Sherman Pickey! My family and I try to shop locally and support small businesses.

Are you optimistic or pessimistic about sales?

Very optimistic. We are lucky to have very wonderful clients and hope to meet new ones as the season moves on.
