Starbucks Price Hike: Paying More For Your Drink

Increased prices on some drinks, packaged coffee begins Tuesday, according to reports.

Notice to Starbucks customers who have memorized the cost of their favorite beverage: The bill may surprise you Tuesday.

Starbucks is raising a few of its prices. Some drinks at the popular coffee chain will see prices increase by 5 cents to 20 cents. According to The Wall Street Journal, a 20-ounce, venti-sized coffee will cost $2.35, an increase of up to 15 cents, depending on the market.

Packaged coffee in grocery stores will also see prices go up by around $1 a bag, but CBS Local notes that the packaged coffee price should stay the same at Starbucks locations.

Not all Starbucks drinks will see a price hike, according to CNN Money, including a grande-sized latte, tall brewed coffee and any sized frappuccino.

The price of coffee beans has gone up sharply in recent weeks, but that wasn't given as a specific reason for Starbucks to raise its prices.

"There are many factors that contribute to our pricing decisions, including competitive dynamics and our overall cost structure," spokesman Zack Hutson said in a statement to USA Today.
