Taste the Sweet and Savory Chocolates of Georgetown

DC Metro Chocolate Tours launches its first Georgetown tour.

DC Metro Chocolate Tours launched their new chocolate tour, highlights interesting and surprising places to purchase chocolate in Georgetown. The tour Sunday began at with their infamous bacon lollies and delectable devil's food cake and moved on from there.

For most of the tour participants, this was their first chocolate tour. “I think it is going to be very good. I’ve done wine tours before, and I wonder how it will compare,” said Jennifer Stoy.

The Georgetown tour is an interactive walking tour that takes groups on a chocolate journey. Tour guide, Sarah McGowan, took the group to a number of shops and businesses including: , , , , , , and Crepe Amour.

The group marveled at a variety of chocolate cosmetics that are good for the skin and learned about how to add an extra oomph to cooking with some specialty chocolate sugars, salts, and spices.

The guide provided a history lesson on chocolate as participants tasted moist, red velvet cupcakes infused with cocoa powder, one of a kind hand crafted Christopher Norman chocolates, Godiva’s famous chocolate gems, and some sweet Nutella crepes.

“Strangely enough, my favorite part was the spice part of the tour,” said Glynda Brown.
