Third Edition Closes for Good

The restaurant has been open in Georgetown since 1969.

Third Edition, 1218 Wisconsin Ave. NW, closed forever Thursday night, according to Prince of Petworth

The Wisconsin Avenue bar was popular with area college students and had its 15 minutes of fame in the classic 1980s film, St. Elmo's Fire.

Third Edition was owned by the Capital Restaurant Concepts, which also owns Georgetown restaurants J. Paul's, Paolo's and Old Glory BBQ.

As Patch previously reported, Capital Restaurant Concepts has been in the process of selling Third Edition to the Richard Sandoval Restaurants group, the team behind 14th Street restaurants like Masa 14.

Not to go quietly into the night, Third Edition hosted a closing party Thursday night, featuring "free hors d’oeuvres, drink specials and other surprises," according to The Washington Post.
