SUMMIT BOLSTERS ITS LITIGATION ANALYTICS TEAM BY ADDING THREE TALENTED PROFESSIONALS

January 29, 2014 (Washington, D.C.) – Summit, a Washington, D.C.-based provider of sophisticated data analysis and related services to Federal Government agencies as well as private sector clients, announces today that it has doubled the size of its Litigation Analytics team.

Joining this group are Dr. Alan Salzberg as Director and Senior Statistician; Mr. Jonathan Scott as a Manager; and Dr. Orit Ronen as a Consultant.

Summit’s Litigation Analytics directorate supports public and private sector attorneys with expert review, statistical sampling and analysis, as well as economic and statistical estimation in complex commercial litigation.

The firm’s analysis is applied to litigation in multiple industries, including health care; finance and lending; and construction and product liability.

Dr. Salzberg and Summit’s team have served as expert witnesses in statistics and economics, and they have experience testifying in both depositions and in court.

“We are extremely excited that Alan, Jonathan and Orit have come on board as we continue to expand our Litigation Analytics team,” says company Principal Anthony Curcio, noting that this group now has six members and plans to appoint more people in 2014. “All three are highly qualified professionals who will play valuable roles in the growth of our Litigation Analytics directorate.”

Dr. Salzberg brings nearly 20 years of consulting experience. His focus is on statistical sampling, estimation, and modeling, especially using regression and other techniques applied to large and complex datasets.

He has testified as an expert witness in the area of statistics in several venues, including state and Federal courts across the United States, ensuring that the often highly complex results of litigation analytics are understood by audiences who have little or no background in math or statistics.

Dr. Salzberg earned a Ph.D. in statistics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also received his Bachelor of Science in economics.

At Summit, Mr. Scott provides guidance on statistical and quantitative analysis for numerous clients in a variety of industries. His work has concentrated in the areas of health-care overpayment and fraud, risk analysis, and commercial litigation and damages.

In a previous role, Mr. Scott served as a Vice President in credit risk management at a large, regional bank, where he focused on modeling the delinquency and default risk of commercial and retail loans.

Mr. Scott earned his M.B.A., concentrating in finance and marketing, and Masters of Public & Internal Affairs (M.P.I.A.) from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Ronen supports attorneys with economic and quantitative analysis, reviews, and critiques in commercial litigation. Her analytical experience in the area of litigation includes economic modeling and data analysis, market valuation with regard to private information and externalities considerations, and game theory/behavioral economics.

Specifically, Dr. Ronen has practical experience in the areas of health care, fraud detection, and damages or risk estimation. She earned her Ph.D. in economics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
