The Wise Investor Group Presents Financial Workshop Series with The National Center for Children and Families

The Wise Investor Group at Robert W. Baird & Co., a team of experienced financial professionals offering financial planning, portfolio management, investment analysis and account services, will team up with The National Center for Children and Families to host a series of financial workshops for various NCCF programs throughout the D.C. metro region.

To kick off the series, Nancy Osmond Popovich and Chris Aime, both Directors and Financial Advisors with the Wise Investor Group, presented a workshop on basic budgeting to NCCF’s Greentree Adolescent Program (GAP). GAP is a high-intensity residential community that prepares traumatized, victimized and poorly socialized adolescent males to be productive members of society. The workshop provided these young men with the opportunity to learn the basics of managing their own money from experts in the local community.

“Direct learning and earning is the best method for teenagers to improve their financial literacy,” said Popovich. “Developing a firm understanding of how to manage their own income, taxes and basic budgeting works while they are young and in a supportive environment like GAP will help prepare these young men for successful financial futures.”

On July 16, the Wise Investor Group will present a workshop to NCCF’s KinNet, part of their CARA House program. KinNet helps keep children who are separated from their biological parents in stable homes with other family members. This workshop will provide guidance to family members caring for those children on making and maintaining a workable budget. Later on this year, in October, NCCF’s Innovative Family Connections program will also benefit from a workshop with the Wise Investor Group.

The National Center for Children and Families is a private, nonprofit child and family welfare agency with a commitment to serving low income, disadvantaged, abused, neglected and/or abandoned children, youth, and their families. This October, NCCF will celebrate 100 years of preserving childhood.
