Blue and Orange Line Delays Expected During Rush Hour

Metro stations may become crowded as trains are single tracking through several eastern end stations on the Blue and Orange lines.

Blue and Orange line customers should anticipate delays in both directions during their afternoon and evening commute until about 7 p.m., according to a press release from Metro. The culprit is a track problem outside Stadium-Armory Station that requires trains to single track between Eastern Market and Stadium Armory stations.

Metro advises customers:

•  Blue and Orange line trains will single track between Eastern Market and Stadium Armory until repairs are made
•  Repairs are expected to continue through the evening commute (estimated time of repair is currently 7 p.m.)
•  Blue/Orange customers traveling between Eastern Market, Stadium-Armory and points east should expect 20-30 minute delays during the peak period
•  Blue/Orange customers traveling from Downtown DC to Virginia: During peak period, trains will depart Eastern Market approximately every 10 min on each line
•  Stations and trains may be subject to crowding conditions

Metro is deploying additional personnel to assist customers and provide information.
