Council Member Mary Cheh and NFL Players Talk Breast Cancer Awareness

The Capital Breast Care Center, the D.C. Department of Health, The NFL Players Association and the Ward 3 Council member held a press conference Friday.

Ward 3 Council member Mary Cheh, a breast cancer survivor, joined forces Friday with the Capital Breast Care Center, the D.C. Department of Health and the NFL Players Association to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment resources in D.C.

"If there are Washingtonians who are having trouble navigating the prevention and treatment terrain, I want them to know that there are facilities and organizations that care and can help," said Cheh in a prepared statement.

Capital Breast Care Center is part of the and provides services to D.C. area women, regardless of their ability to pay.

The NFL Players Association has its own programs for promoting awaresness and testing and during  October, players wore pink in parts of their uniforms to support the American Cancer Society’s National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
