Delayed Opening for Federal Employees, Metro to Expand Rush Hour Service

In anticipation of icy conditions early Monday morning, federal employees can arrive as late as 11 a.m.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has advised government workers to stay off the roads Monday, Jan. 23 until 9 a.m. and that under a delayed arrival schedule they can arrive as late as 11 a.m. The National Weather Service issued a freezing rain alert for the District of Columbia, making for icy roadways and slippery sidewalks.

Government employees also have to options of unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework. Emergency employees should report to work on time.

Metro will operate an expanded morning rush hour service on Monday according to a press release from the transit agency. Both Metrorail and Metrobus service will operate additional trips during the late morning hours.
