This week a Jeanne Harris, a top donor to Mayor Vincent Gray's 2010 campaign, pleaded guilty to disguising the source of campaign contributions in federal and local elections and to hiding those activities from federal investigators. that obscured and failed to report some $653,800 in campaign expenses and contributions that benefited Gray's official mayoral campaign.

The died Tuesday, less than 24 hours after an application-based sedan car service Uber rallied its fans and users to oppose the amendment that would set the minimum fare for the service at five times the normal taxicab rate.

Councilwoman Mary Cheh decided to withdraw her amendment Tuesday after she and other members of the District Council received a large number of complaints about the proposed limitations to Uber service. Cheh will hold a hearing on the service in September and Uber can continue to operate legally in DC through Dec. 31.

DCPS Chancellor Appoints Patricia Pride as Interim Stoddert Elementary Principal

First Chancellor Kaya Henderson called off the search for a new Stoddert Elementary principal. Then two days later she announced that Patricia Pride would be the interim school leader for the 2012-2013 school year.

The move comes less than a month after Principal Dr. Marjorie Cuthbert announced her resignation. Though parents and teachers were not included in the decision to have an interim for the upcoming school year, Henderson said that it was necessary given the limited time to perform a search.
