Emergency Lane Closures on Canal Road for Bridge Inspection

Road closures will allow local and federal authorities to inspect the railroad bridge over Canal Road at Arizona Avenue.

Drivers should expect lane closures on Canal Road throughout the day Thursday as the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), the National Park Service and the Federal Highway Administration inspect the railroad bridge over Canal Road at Arizona Avenue.

According to a news release from DDOT, the bridge was damange in a recent crash involving a truck. The lane closures began at 10 a.m. and will continue through 2 p.m.

Canal Road will be narrowed to one lane and flaggers will be onsite to guide two-way traffic through the work zone. The inspection work is expected to last until approximately 2 p.m. today. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes including MacArthur Boulevard.
