Get Out: Interactive Art, Planetarium Programs and More

1. Public Programming Kicks Off at Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium

When/Where: Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at the David M. Brown Planetarium, 1426 N. Quincy St., Arlington

Why Go: The Friends of the David M. Brown Planetarium will host public programs one weekend each month. This month's theme: Protecting the dark night sky. Friday night features a screening of "The City Dark," a 58-minute documentary about the human relationship to the stars. Saturday and Sunday feature screenings of the full-dome show, "Stars: The Powerhouses of the Universe." Sunday also features a presentation by the National Science Foundation's Andrew Clegg. Cost: Free to $5, depending on the program and the attendee's age. Donations are encouraged for the free events.

2. Daffodil and Wildflower Planting

When/Where: 9:30 ap.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Rock Creek Park
(2800 Pennsylvania Ave. NW)

Why Go: Volunteers are needed to support Rock Creek Conservancy in the planting of 6,000 daffodil bulbs and wildflowers. There will be two three-hour shifts. Plant wildflowers in the morning, bulbs in the afternoon. Click here to sign up for a shift. 

Price: Lunch and snacks provided. Free!

3. 15th International Festival of Hispanic Theater

When/Where: 8 p.m. Friday, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gunston Arts Center, 2700 S. Lang St., Arlington

Why Go: Theater companies from around the world are presenting Hispanic productions through mid-November. This weekend, catch an Argentinian production of "Jesucristo" by Mariano Moro.

Cost: $30

4. Arts in Foggy Bottom’s Sculpture Exhibit Closing Event

When/Where: 6 p.m. Friday (tour meets at New Hampshire Avenue and I Street, NW) and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at various sculpture locations.

Why Go: The closing of the outdoor exhibit features an innovative collaboration between sculpture and the performing arts. Five virtuoso musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra will play works inspired by the sculptures during the Friday tour. Saturday's collaboration will include appearances by a photographer in the afternoon and jazz musicians and dancers in the evening.
