NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament 2013: Bring It On!

No. 5 Georgetown blows out rival Syracuse to take at least a share of the Big East regular-season championship and put the Hoyas in prime position heading into the Big East Tournament and Selection Sunday.

One of the most riveting rivalries in sports came to an end Saturday in the last Big East matchup between Georgetown and Syracuse, and the Hoyas went out in style, blowing out the Orangeman 61-39 to take at least a share of the Big East regular-season title.

With the victory, the Hoyas head into next week's Big East tournament as the No. 1 seed and had only to wait to see whether Marquette could defeat St. John's later Saturday to see if the regular season title would be theirs alone or would be shared with the Golden Eagles.

No. 5 Georgetown overmatched No. 17 Syracuse in every department, with quick ball movement on offense and quick feet on defense. Their aim didn't hurt, either: Markel Starks made 5 of 9 three-point attempts on the way to his 19 points.

The Hoyas bounced back from a 67-65 loss to Villanova on Wednesday to recapture momentum heading into Selection Sunday and then the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, which begins March 19. They finished the regular season 25-4 overall and 14-5 in the Big East.

This was the last regular-season matchup with both Georgetown and Syracuse in the Big East. Syracuse head to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
