Occupy D.C. Protestors to Converge on Key Bridge Thursday Afternoon

Occupy D.C. will bring their campaign to Georgetown Thursday with a march planned beginning at 2:30 p.m. at McPherson Square and ending at the Key Bridge. According to a schedule on the movement's website, the entire event is expected to end by 6 p.m.

The march is one of solidarity with One D.C., a labor group, and participants will be calling on Congress to focus on job creation.

When local blog DCist questioned the reasoning behind holding the march during "afternoon rush hour," Occupy DC fired back on Twitter that they expect the event to be over before rush hour begins.

Occupy chose the Key Bridge for the same reasons President Barack Obama gave a few weeks ago.

Obama's speech focused on the $50 billion in spending on transportation infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, that he included in his American Jobs Act.

Occupy D.C.'s event description reads, "In Washington, the structurally deficient Key Bridge is a vivid example of the many roads, schools and other infrastructure sites in need of repair."
