Pepco announced Wednesday that the businesses at the Washington Harbour would have to continue to wait for power to be restored after ; no timeline was given.

The electrical equipment as the Washington Harbour on the Georgetown Waterfront was submerged underwater Monday, causing outages for nearby customers including the escalators and elevators at the Foggy Bottom Metro Station, according to a release from Pepco Wednesday.

Customers outside of the Harbour complex have had power restored but the repair work for the flooded area will take longer. Pepco will not reconnect the equipment to the power grid until it can be done so safely.

"We will be prepared when our Washington Harbor customers have completed their work and are able to have power restored. The key factor is safety, making sure that all necessary steps have been taken when the customer’s equipment is energized," says Robert Dempsey, the regional resource manager at the utility company.
