Traffic Alert: French President Hollande in Georgetown Friday

Expect traffic on Reservoir Road near the French Embassy Friday evening

François Hollande, the newly elected French President, could cause traffic snares Friday evening on Reservoir Road when he visits the .

Some 2,000 French citizens living in the D.C. area were invited to attend the event, according to the embassy website. Attendees are requested to arrive between 2:30 and 4:15 p.m. for the event which being at 5 p.m.

The event notice on the embassy website also tells attendees that there is no parking within the embassy gates.

"Reservoir Road may be difficult to traverse and may hinder traffic near campus" according to the GU email.

Hollande is in the United States from May 18 through May 21. He will have a "working meeting" with President Barack Obama and attend the G8 Summit while in Washington, according to a press release on the embassy website. Then he goes to Chicago to participate in the NATO Summit on May 20 and 21.

Hollande won 51.6 percent of the vote on May 6, ousting incumbent President Nicolas Sarkozy.
