An "Unmentionable" Affair
Two DC-based lingerie businesses are banding together to support
women with ovarian cancer and educate their customers about this
“unmentionable” disease. Join Bloomers, Belabumbum and DC-based nonprofit the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance for a special event dedicated to supporting women from top to bottom.
This September, lingerie and loungewear company Belabumbum created a special camisole and panty set in teal
(the color of ovarian cancer awareness) with touches of pink to
symbolize the connection with breast cancer. Women who have one of these
diseases are at greater risk of developing the other. One hundred
percent of the proceeds from sales of this set are being donated to the
Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to support our work on behalf of women
with this disease.
Ovarian cancer and other “below-the-belt” diseases are not often
topics of conversation, even though a woman is diagnosed with the
disease every 24 minutes. An “Unmentionable” Affair will highlight this
cause with a fun afternoon of shopping and socializing. Women—and
men—are invited to drop by Bloomers on Saturday, September 28, to learn
about “unmentionable” cancers and buy a beautiful lingerie set that
benefits the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

In addition to highlighting ovarian cancer awareness, this event will
showcase women business leaders and entrepreneurs in the DC area. All
three participating organizations are helmed by women and dedicated to
women’s interests.
