DC Youth Orchestra Program Open House

Does your child want to learn to play an instrument or does your child already play and wants to participate in an ensemble?

If so, check out DC Youth Orchestra Program at its annual Open House--DCYOPalooza--at Eastern High School on Capitol Hill.

Free and open to the public!

  • Try instruments at our instrument “petting zoo”
         10:00 am to 4:00 pm

  • Listen to informal performances by DCYOP faculty
           9:30 am to 10:00 am
           1:00 pm to 1:45 pm 
           3:00 pm to 3:45 pm
  • Watch a working rehearsal of the Youth Orchestra playing Mussorgksy’s Night on Bald Mountain
          4:00 pm to 4:30 pm

  • Talk with faculty and staff to learn about DCYOP and register for classes.
           September 7th is also the deadline to register for fall classes.
Does your child already play an instrument?
  • If your child plays an instrument, you can schedule a placement audition between now and September 7th by sending an e-mail to claudine@dcyop.org
  • Advanced students can also schedule an audition for the Youth Orchestra during the Open House (as well as on September 14th). Get details here or e-mail rashida@dcyop.org.
About DC Youth Orchestra Program:

Founded in 1960, DC Youth Orchestra Program offers instrumental music classes and ensemble training for beginning to advanced students ages 4 ½ to 18. Most classes and rehearsals take place on Saturdays at Eastern High School. Tuition assistance is available. The deadline to register for the fall semester is September 7th and classes start on September 14th.
