To kick off the new year we will be starting a new lecture series exploring the many facets of wellness. Throughout the year we will delve into the topic of wellness as it pertains to the different dimensions of health: Physical, psychological, spiritual, social, intellectual and environmental. This series is designed to offer individuals an avenue to explore different tools that can help them create wellness in their lives. Wellness is a very personal concept leading each individual to define it uniquely. This month we will welcome *Tambra Raye, Nutrition Expert and Food Justice Advocate, to introduce this "What is Wellness" series.

Recently honored by the NAACP DC Branch, Tambra Raye Stevenson is a dynamic speaker and food justice advocate. She has emerged as a media source on nutrition and wellness with appearances on NBC’s The Grio, WHUR-FM, TheRoot.com, Washington Post, Sirius XM Radio, NBC Nightly News, WE ACT Radio, BET.com and New America Media. As the founder of NativSol Kitchen, she executed “A Taste of African Heritage” a successful 6-week pilot series in partnership with Oldways Preservation Trust. She holds a B.S. in Human Nutrition with a Spanish minor from Oklahoma State University and a M.S. in Health Communication from Tufts University. She is a proud mom of two toddlers living in Washington, DC where she is empowering the community to create their personal plan for wellness.
