Sponsorship of International 
Women’s Day Celebration and Fundraiser


Proceeds to Benefit Charitable Organizations,
N Street Village and Bridge to Türkiye Fund


Washington, D.C. – Turkish Airlines,
one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, announced today its official sponsorship of the International Women’s
Day celebration and fundraiser. The event is scheduled to take place at the Turkish
Embassy Chancery in Washington, D.C. on Friday, March 7, 2014.

During the event, the American Turkish Association of Washington D.C. (ATA-D.C.) and the Bridge to Türkiye Fund (BTF) will honor Mrs. Fügen Tan, wife of Turkish Ambassador Namik Tan, and Mrs. Diana Mayhew, President of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, in recognition of their lifetime achievements.


Mayhew
will also serve as keynote speaker that evening. Past recipients of the ATA-DC
award include Congresswoman Donna Edwards (2013) and Congresswoman Eleanor
Norton Holmes (2012).

To serve the local and international community, funds raised through this event will benefit N Street Village and BTF’s Medine Memi Memorial Fund for Girls’ Education. N Street Village is the largest provider of women-only services for D.C.’s homeless population, helping nearly 1,400 homeless and low-income women each year. BTF’s Medine Memi Memorial Fund for Girls’ Education offers scholarships to girls in some of Turkey’s most remote and impoverished regions. 

Reception and dinner will be offered by the Turkish Embassy as part of the

event.
