Green nonprofit to host virtual donation event for D.C.Ward 4 charity

New Generation Energy (NGE) -- an organization that helps develop and fund green energy projects at nonprofits nationwide -- will host a special virtual donation event for a lighting retrofit project at the community center of Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSS/NCA) on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. If the project receives 500 individual donations of any amount during this time through NGE’s website, NGE will fully fund the remaining cost of the project.  The total cost of the project is $13,950.  To donate, please follow this link.

From sunrise to sunset, eco‐conscious individuals can have a major impact on their community for as little as $1. All donations will help support the lighting retrofit project, which will have a direct, positive impact on LSS/NCA, a local organization that supports D.C.-area residents in need. Increased energy efficiency will help LSS/NCA keep facility maintenance costs down, have more funds available for direct services, and reduce its fossil fuel use in its community. In total, the project is expected to save the organization $58,032 in energy costs and more than 500,000 lbs of CO2 over its lifetime.
