Marshmallow The Dog Gets Help, Finds A New DC Home

A GoFundMe success story and more dogs like Marshmallow that could use your help.

The Washington Humane Society was able to find a home for Marshmallow the dog after a successful GoFundMe campaign provided funding to put him on medication.

Marshmallow was a foster dog at City Dogs doggy daycare when Dave Liedman started a campaign.

Marshmallow has diabetes insipidus, causing him to be thirsty and have to go on frequent potty trips, Liedman wrote on the campaign.

"He can get dehydrated easily and must go potty indoors if he isn't brought outside often enough,"Liedman said.

Liedman worried that Marshmallow's condition would drive potential adopters away without giving them a chance to see how easy the dog's condition could be to handle.

But he was able to raise $871 just shy of his $900 dollar goal. Marshmallow responded well to the medication and found a new, permanent home on U Street, Liedman reported.

This happened more than two years ago, but there are many dogs just like Marshmallow that could use your help on GoFundMe. See if there is one you can help on the road to recovery.
