D.C. FOOD DAY 2012: Breakfast Brain Food for Kids with Tea with Mrs. B and Teaism!

Tea with Mrs. B has partnered with Teaism to offer kids a very special way to celebrate the 2012 Food Day movement!

Tea with Mrs. B has partnered with Teaism, a collection of critically acclaimed, Asian-inspired teahouses that serve simple, healthy foods, and of course, tea, to offer kids a very special way to celebrate the 2012 Food Day movement!

On October 21, for the most important meal of the day, Mrs. B and her friends at Teaism will engage children in a lively discussion about healthy breakfast choices and demonstrate how to create a colorful breakfast parfait. Layering yogurt, fruits, and other healthy ingredients, kids will learn the benefits of starting the day off right. Light manners coaching and hands-on activities are sure to be a hit with parents too!

Food movement leaders at the Center for Science in the Public Interest are gearing up for the second annual Food Day, a nationwide celebration of healthy and affordable food. More than 2,300 events in all 50 states took place on the first Food Day, and organizers intend for Food Day 2012 to be even bigger. Food Day, on October 24, falls eight days after World Food Day, the global anti-hunger event sponsored by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Food Day organizers hope that schools, churches, and other organizations can use all of the days in between to conduct activities focused on hunger, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and other food issues.

As with any Tea with Mrs. B event, Mrs. B shares lifelong lessons in a cultural setting to engage kids to use their good manners in a most entertaining fashion. “Learning to eat healthy meals, especially breakfast, is a lesson that can’t be learned too early,” said Mrs. B, who has a 1.5 year old son. “Participating in this year’s Food Day series of events, and partnering with Teaism, is a joy and responsibility taken seriously!”
