Join Tea with Mrs. B in Supporting Georgetown’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center!

Mrs. B asks the local community to help fund pediatric oncology programs by sponsoring or donating to this year's Georgetown Jingle charity event.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and now is the perfect time to join the fight against the diagnosis that remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 15. This weekend, Mrs. B, a longtime advocate for Georgetown’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and its young patients, is hosting one of her special Tea with Mrs. B events to entertain and encourage the patient Ambassadors and their families. And, during this month of heightened awareness, she’s also calling on everyone to help support the hospital's pediatric oncology programs by sponsoring or donating to this year’s Georgetown Jingle charity event. The 7th Annual Georgetown Jingle will be held on December 16, 2012 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., and will feature live entertainment, Santa Claus and friends, holiday crafts, chef tastings and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the children receiving top-notch cancer care.

“It’s events like these—special Tea with Mrs. B teas and the Georgetown Jingle—that help make childhood cancer a little less painful for the kids and their parents,” said Mrs. B. “Each year our community rallies around this important fight and helps raise critical funds to operate the Bone Marrow Transplant Program, the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program, and the Pediatric Palliative Care Program.”

There are many ways to support Georgetown Jingle—you can mark your calendar, purchase event tickets and attend the event; purchase raffle tickets; donate to the silent auction; or become an event sponsor. If you or your company are able to donate to the silent auction, Georgetown Jingle would love to raise important funds with:

“The Georgetown Jingle celebrates children and teens at various stages of their cancer journey,” said Ashley Myler Klick, coordinator for the Georgetown Jingle. “Some Ambassadors may have been recently diagnosed and in treatment and others may be entering survivorship or celebrating five-plus years cancer-free. Some are transplant patients and some have experienced more than one relapse. Our youngest Ambassador is only one year old, and our oldest Ambassador is now 28. The community’s backing is greatly appreciated—and I want to thank everyone for their thoughtful and generous support!”
