Navy Yard Responder, Police Officer Recovers From Severe Injuries

More than two months after the Navy Yard shooting, one of the first police officers on the scene is still recovering from his injuries.

Scott Williams is a Metropolitan Police Department officer who was shot while responding to the Navy Yard shooting in September.

According to his GoFundMe page, created by his friends and coworkers, Scott was one of the first police officers on the scene. While trying to stop Aaron Alexis who killed 12 people, Williams was shot several times.

He is now recovering from shots in both legs that cracked one and shattered the other, the campaign says.

"Although Scott has made great strides since being shot, the recovery process will take time and there are many unforeseen expenses on the horizon," the campaign says.

The campaign is more than halfway to its goal of $5,000. You can donate here
