New Year, New Owner: Bethesda Trainer Buys Fitness Together in Georgetown

The Fitness Together studio in Georgetown is undergoing exciting changes following its successful purchase by well-known local trainer and nutritionist, Stacy Adams of Fitness Together Bethesda.

The Fitness Together (FT) studio in Georgetown has a new owner following the successful completion of its sale to an FT trainer and manager.

Stacy Adams, a well-known trainer and manager of Fitness Together in Bethesda is now the owner of FT Georgetown. She purchased the Georgetown studio from colleague Matt McKinnis, who also owns FT studios in Alexandria, Virginia, and in Washington, DC at Scott Circle.

“I’ve spent the last several years learning every aspect of running a successful studio and am so excited to take on the responsibility of the Georgetown studio,” Adams says. “I feel like I’ve been preparing for this moment for years. I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with FT Georgetown’s amazing clients and their talented trainers.”

The studio (located at 3222 N Street in Georgetown) will host a “New Year, New You, New Owner!” party on Friday, Jan. 11 from 5:30 p.m. onward. The public is invited to take advantage of this chance to meet Adams and to tour the studio. Light refreshments will be served.

Fitness Together studios focus on pairing trainers with clients in one-on-one and small-group "pack" sessions in semi-private workout bays. This unique setting allows for total concentration, commitment and results-oriented training in helping clients lose weight, build muscle, and increase flexibility, no matter a client’s age or level of fitness.

McKinnis, who first opened the Georgetown studio in 2009, said that he’s excited to see Adams take the reins of her own studio.

“Studio owners in the DC area have seen Stacy come up through the ranks and we all recognize her incredible passion for helping her clients reach their fitness goals,” McKinnis said. “I could not be happier to see someone for whom I have so much respect carry on the standard of excellence at FT Georgetown and take it to new heights.”

Adams, a certified personal trainer and nutrition consultant, has been in the industry for more than a decade, the last four of those years with Fitness Together. She was a Division 1 soccer athlete who, after various injuries put her on the sidelines, found herself drawn to the study of the body's ability to recover and rebuild through proper exercise techniques and nutrition. She holds a BS in Exercise Science, graduating with honors at the top of her class from Salisbury University.
