Alert Dog, Owner Lead to Burglary Arrest

The suspects allegedly burglarized several homes in the Palisades.

A barking dog and a fast-thinking resident helped Second District Metropolitan Police Department officers track down and arrest two burglary suspects.

According to an email sent on the Second District listserv, a resident of the  5400 block of Macomb Street, NW first heard his dog bark and then his front door close. He then observed a man walk through his front yard and get into a vehicle which drove off.

The resident called police, giving a description of both the suspect and the get away vehicle.

According to the listserv email from Second District Captain David Sledge:

"Second District police officers in the area monitored the lookout and stopped the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the suspects’ vehicle contained property that was stolen from the complainant’s residence. While investigating this matter, a second complainant reported that their residence also in the 5400 block of Macomb Street was burglarized.
