Alleged Stabbing Victim Wasn't Stabbed, Just High

Georgetown student falsely reported a stabbing.

Georgetown University's Department of Public Safety (DPS) called off the search for the suspect in an alleged Monday night stabbing once the victim sobered up and recanted the story, according to a report in campus newspaper, The Georgetown Voice.

The student was transported to Georgetown University hospital and police were initially looking for a suspect described as "tall, blond, white man" last seen running off into the neighborhood.

According to the Voice:

"The student who reported being stabbed was enjoying his time at Tombs until he began acting unreasonably rowdy and was thrown out. After being outside in front of the Tombs, this patron called DPS and began to explain to both DPS and Tombs staff that he was injured on an elbow and knee by a random assailant..."

DPS later notified the campus community that "no assault occurred.”
