Man Arrested for Alleged Sex Abuse Near Wisconsin Avenue

United States Park Police arrested an adult male for an alleged sex abuse Tuesday.

United States Park Police arrested an adult male for an alleged sex abuse that was reported on Tuesday at 9 p.m. in the 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW in Georgetown, according the Daily Crime Report posted on the Metropolitan Police Department's Second District listserv.

"The reported offense occurred in an area under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. United States Park Police arrested an adult male regarding this reported offense," according to an email from Officer David Sledge.  

The Park Service has jurisdiction over the C&O Canal and the towpath along the canal, both located in that area of Wisconsin Avenue, NW.

The report says the offense was sex abuse and that the method was "Attempt 1st Degree Sexual Abuse (Vaginal)."

"Due to the sensitive nature of this offense, no information will be divulged regarding the identity, age or any relationship between the arrested suspect and the victim," according to Sledge.
