Burglary Leads To Car Theft

Police are looking for more information.

A car was stolen in Burleith after a break-in to the owner's home, said a Georgetown University Department of Public Safety notice.

At about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Burleith resident reported the car missing and said electronics had been taken from the house on the 3600 block of S street, N.W., the notice said.

A back door had been unlocked while the residents were sleeping, the notice said.

The Georgetown University Department of Public Safety advises keeping doors and window locked, refraining from "propping open" doors and "not opening doors for strangers."

Although the residents don't appear to be associated with Georgetown University, the Department of Public Safety views the burglary as a potential threat to GU students, the notice said.

The Department of Public Safety is asking anyone with information about the incident or suspects to call the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 715-7300 the detectives' office at (202) 730-1903, or to call Georgetown University Police at (202) 687-4343.
