Construction Worker Dies After Hit By Parked Trailer on Parkway

An out of control car caused the accident, police said.

A construction worker was pronounced dead early Thursday morning after being hit by a trailer attached to a parked car, police said.

Travis Jackson, a 34-year-old Alexandria man, was standing by a parked car on Suitland Parkway Southeast when around 11:25 p.m. a woman driving a 2002 BMW X5 lost control of the vehicle while heading eastbound on the parkway, police said.

The driver "struck a parked vehicle and a portable light trailer, which was attached to the vehicle," police said.
