DC Police Positively ID Body Found in Park as Abductor Suspect Khalil Tatum
Body was found shot in the head in a shed near a football field, Washington Post reports.
The body found Monday while police were searching for a missing child in a DC park is that of her suspected abductor, Kahlil Tatum, according to the D.C. Police Department.
"The body found yesterday in Kenilworth Park has positively been ID'd as Kahlil Tatum," DC Police said Tuesday morning via Twitter.
Police said the man, who had worked as a janitor at a homeless shelter, was shot in the head and died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, The Washington Post reported.
His body was found near a football field, in a shed, the newspaper reported. Police said they could not immediately determine how long his body had been there.
Police and volunteers are continuing their search in the park, Northeast Washington’s Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, for Relisha Rudd, the 8-year-old girl who has been missing and is feared dead, according to the DC police chief.
