FBI, MPD: Three Bank Break-ins 'Similar'

The FBI and Metropolitan Police have released wanted posters for suspects in what they believe to be "similar" bank break-ins. 

In all three cases, one or more suspect(s) have broken into a vacated business in order to gain entry to a neighboring bank: once into an M&T Bank on Wisconsin Avenue and twice into a Connecticut Avenue Bank of America.

The most recent bank break-in was reported

On May 24, 2011, authorities said two subjects broke into a vacated business located at 2633 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, D.C.

"While inside the vacated business the subjects broke through the wall and in to the neighboring Bank of America, located at 2631 Connecticut Ave., causing significant structural damage," a release from the FBI said.

Metropolitan Police responded to the Bank of America when an alarm sounded but the subjects had already fled the scene. No items were missing from the bank, police said.

On Aug. 17, 2012, authorities said the same Bank of America was broken into by a suspect or suspects that wore white Tyvek suit(s) with black masks and black gloves. The FBI said the bank was broken into through the wall of an adjacent building, again causing structural damage. No items were found to be missing and when police responded the suspects had already fled, according to the release. 

Friday the FBI said "surveillance video captured footage of a subject wearing a white Tyvek suit and a blue baseball hat." 

The FBI told Patch Friday that they are "looking into the cases possibly being related."
