Former Georgetown Hoya, Austin Freeman, Cited for Drunk Driving, Other Offenses

Maryland State Police in Prince George's County stopped Freeman June 25, just days after he was not drafted in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Just two days after he was not drafted in the 2011 NBA Draft, Austin Freeman was pulled over in Hyattsville, Maryland and cited for seven offenses by Maryland State Police, according to the Washington Times.

The Times reports that the former Hoya was driving 71 mph in a 50-mph zone and was pulled over June 25 at 4:08 a.m. He was cited for DUI, reckless driving, negligent driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, and not displaying the vehicle registration card when asked by the officer, according to Hyattsville District Court records obtained by the Times.

Freeman could face one year in jail, a $1,000 fine and a 45-day license suspension for the DUI charge.

According to the Georgetown University student newspaper blog, Vox Populi, Freeman worked out with several NBA teams and trained to drop 20 pounds since Georgetown’s season ended.
