Georgetown Student Assaulted by Taxicab Driver

A Georgetown University student reported the assault in the early morning hours Thursday.

A Georgetown University student was assaulted by a taxicab driver on Prospect Street around 12 a.m. Thursday, according to a report on the Department of Public Safety (DPS) website. According to DPS the student was not physically injured during the incident.

DPS described the incident in a safety alert:

"At 1:23 a.m., a student reported to DPS that, at approximately 12 a.m., a taxi driver assaulted the student and made inappropriate sexual comments to the student while being driving back to the main campus. MPD and DPS are investigating."

Students received an email alert about the incident just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

The MPD crime report for that date has not yet been released on the list serv.

Editor's Note: The DPS website indicates that the assualt occurred at 12 a.m. Wednesday, March 29. But Wednesday was March 28. Patch confirmed that the incident happened early Thursday morning, not Wednesday morning, as the student was returning to campus.
