Georgetown Law Student Killed in Stabbing

High school friend charged in death.

A first-year Georgetown University Law Center student was stabbed to death Sunday morning in Montgomery County during a birthday celebration, and a high school friend was charged with murder, according to news reports.

Dead is Mark Edward Waugh, who was stabbed inside a Montgomery County high-rise apartment, according to The Washington Post

Rahul Gupta, 24, a biomedical engineering student at George Washington University, was being held Monday in the Montgomery County jail on $2 million bond, according to the Post.

Both Waugh and Gupta attended Langley High School in McLean, Va., the Post reported.

Police were called at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, for a report of unknown trouble inside an apartment in the high-rise in Silver Spring, Md.

As the officers made their way into the apartment, they saw blood on the walls of the kitchen and living area and saw Gupta covered in blood, the Post reported, citing charging documents.

“I walked in on my girlfriend cheating on me,” Gupta said, according to the charging papers. “My girl and my buddy were cheating. My girl was cheating with my buddy. I walked in on them cheating and I killed my buddy.”

Waugh was a short distance away and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
