Georgetown Mugging: Two Girls Jump Woman, Steal Her Bag

She was walking on a Georgetown street when two teenaged girls approached her.

A woman walking alone in Georgetown was jumped by two teenaged girls who ultimately stole her shopping bag full of recent purchases on Thursday, police said. 

The robbery happened around 6:20 p.m. on the 1200 block of 27th Street, police said. 

The two girls approached the woman and "began an immediate physical attack, punching the victim about the head and body," police said.

While attacking the woman, the two girls tried to take her purse, police said.

The woman fought back and would not give up the purse, but the two girls grabbed a shopping bag out of the woman's hands and fled, police said.

Police have implemented an evening patrol focused on preventing this type of crime in the east end of Georgetown, police said.
