Hold Onto Your Purse! Suspected Robber Takes Phone and Runs

A crime story from last week highlighted by Georgetown's police lieutenant.

A girl took an iPhone from a woman's purse that was "wrapped securely on her shoulder," said Metropolitan Police Department Lieutenant John Hedgecock.

The woman was feeding a parking meter on the 2900 block of M Street, N.W., when the phone was taken. The suspected robber, a 15-year-old girl, ran down the street, but witnesses helped police follow her, Hedgecock said.

Police found the girl with a large group of people and arrested her under suspicion of robbery, along with another 17-year-old girl who was charged with "receiving stolen goods," Hedgecock said.
