Non-Emergency Information
The Metropolitan Police Department Non-Emergency number (202-727-1010) should be used for non-emergency or routine public safety request for assistance. However, if you have an emergency, please dial 911. Residents may also contact the Second District Police Station for assistance (202-364-3961).

Downed Trees
For more information on tree removal services after the storm
The D.C. Urban Forestry Administration maintains the District's street tree canopy. During emergency situations UFA works with the Department of Public Works, DC Water and Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department to remove downed trees, branches and debris from District streets. Residents are urged to call 311 or go online at 311.dc.gov to report downed trees and branches in public space.
Private property: Removal is the property owner's responsibility. Be aware of the risk of chain saw injury during tree removal. Use a chain saw safely to clear debris. If a tree has hit your home, call your property insurance company before starting the removal process.
Water and Sewer
- DC Water is prepared for the storm. You can report clogged storm drains before or after a storm by calling (202) 612-3400.
- For water and sewer emergencies, DCWater is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 202-612-3400.
Flooding
- Rising water that threatens your safety, call 9-1-1
- For sewer flooding, call DCWater's emergency number 202-612-3400.
- If you have damp walls or floors, contact a water removal or restoration company
