January Hearing Set For GU Students Charged With Property Destruction

The three students have been charged with the misdemeanor offense of Destruction of Property.

Diversion hearings have been set for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 25, 2012 for three students who have been charged with destroying school property. A judge has not yet been assigned to the cases.

Eric Pilch, Sam Buckley and John Flanagan were arrested early Aug. 28 during Hurricane Irene "after they ignored Public Safety officers' requests to leave the Leavey Center area for safety reasons and their attempts to evade officers in the building resulted in an estimated $1,500 in damage to university property," according to published on Georgetown Patch earlier this month.

A misdemeanor initial status hearing was held in D.C. Superior Court on Wednesday morning. The Jan. 25 diversion hearing has been set to determine if the separate defendants would benefit from treatment programs.
