Ouch! 'Flying' Deer Knocks Out Woman at DC Bus Stop

Woman was getting off of a bus when she was struck by a spooked deer's hind legs.

A woman who was getting off a bus Friday morning in DC was knocked out after getting struck by a spooked deer, according to a report by WJLA.

The woman was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to the TV news story. The incident took place at Alabama Avenue SE and Naylor Road SE in DC about 9 a.m. Friday.

The woman was reportedly struck by the deer's hind legs while it was jumping out of the way of a group of people waiting for the bus, the report said.

The incident is similar to one that happened in Ashburn, where a jogger was knocked out by a "flying deer." In that case, a deer was hit by a car and "flew" into the jogger.

Krystine Rivera, 27, was jogging on a path near the Dulles Greenway when an SUV driven by a 71-year-old woman struck a deer and sent it flying — right on top of Rivera, according to an account of the accident in The Washington Post.

Rivera remembers only that she was running one minute and then waking up in an ambulance the next, the Washington Post reported.
