Park Police and MPD Give All Clear at Washington Canoe Club

Authorities searched the property after a window was discovered pried open Thursday morning.

The Washington Canoe Club has been padlocked for over a year because of structural safety issues, but this morning an NPS officer discovered that a window had been pried open. The United States Park Police and D.C. Metropolitan Police K9 units investigated the suspicious situation, but eventually gave the all clear.

A public information officer at D.C. MPD told Patch that their units were called in to assist the park service officers with a K9 search.

Sgt. David Schlosser from USPP told Patch that an officer discovered the window open just before 11 a.m. Thursday and the agency decided that a search of the unsecured property was necessary. They did not discover any vandalism or other issues with the property during the course of the search.
