Person Sought In Connection With Shooting Near White House

Oscar Ramiro Ortega identified as person of interest.

U.S. Park Police detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Oscar Ramiro Ortega in its investigation of shots fired near the White House.

The warrant is for carrying a dangerous weapon, a felony. The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the 1600 block of Constitution Avenue NW, according to a Park Police news release. The incident occurred between the White House and the Washington Monument.

The Park Police is asking the public's help in finding Ortega, who is described as a 21-year-old Hispanic man, 5 feet 11 inches, 160 pounds, medium build, brown eyes, black hair. His right hand has a tattoo of three dots. He has a tattoo stating "Ortega" on his upper back, a tattoo on his right chest of rosary beads and hands clasped in prayer, a tattoo of folded hands on left chest, and the word "Israel" tattooed on left side of neck.

Ortega is believed to be in the Washington area, but he has ties to Idaho, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact local law enforcement and US Park Police at 202-610-7500. 

As the investigation unfolded, the Park Police found a vehicle in the 2300 block of Constitution Avenue. Evidence in the vehicle led to Ortega, police said.
