Police Meet with Community Wednesday Night

The Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) will hold its monthly public meeting between police and concerned Second District community members tonight beginning at 7 p.m. The CAC meets at the Second District Station (3320 Idaho Ave. NW).

CAC Chair George Corey writes, "Please join your neighbors and representatives of the MPD's 2nd District, and the Assistant US Attorney for the 2nd District, for the monthly meeting to discuss recent crimes and CAC sponsored events in support of the MPD in DC's Second Police District."

Commander Reese generally attends the meeting to provide crime statistics and answer any questions or concerns about individual incidents or recent trends.

At Wednesday's meeting, the Officers of the Month will also be recognized.

2. Planning for MPD 2D CAC Annual Awards:

• Save the date for Thursday, Oct. 4 6 to 10 p.m.
• Goal: Invite 100 again: Awardees, Families & Commander’s Special Guests
• Venue: Maggiano’s ($3k deposit paid)
• Fundraising: $10k committed from 2011 sponsors (Goal $15k)  

Vice Chair’s Comments: Bassel Korkor (Planning on Awards Dinner, other)  

Treasurer’s Report: Bob Avery (Financial report to be recorded in the minutes) 

Secretary’s Comments: Brian Turmail (Minutes from May, June meetings to be adopted)
