Police Meet with Second District Community Tonight

The monthly Citizens Advisory Council includes a briefing from Commander Michael Reese on local crime statistics.

The monthly Citizens Advisory Council is tonight and will include the regular briefing by Second District Commancer Michael Reese on crime in the community. All residents are welcome to attend the 7 p.m. meeting at the Second District station at 3320 Idaho Ave. NW.

Chair’s Report: George Corey MPD 2D CAC Annual Awards

Thanks to all for organizing and staffing the event.

  • We exceeded our goal to invite 100 Awardees, Families & Special Guests       
  • Fundraising met costs: Maggiano’s $11k & Awards $3k  
  • Fundraising is to be a monthly matter, bringing in businesses throughout the year.  

Election of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer for 2013 & 2014. Formation of Election Committee (2 years ago, Beverly Casserly & Jim Lively)  

Vice Chair’s Comments:  Bassel Korkor 

Treasurer’s Report:  Bob Avery (Financial report to be recorded in the minutes)

Secretary’s Comments:  Brian Turmail (Minutes to be adopted)

Membership Chair’s Report:  Jon Lawlor (16 Members, of which 11 are Voting)

The CAC will reconvene for the last meeting of the year on Nov. 28. The first meeting of 2013, Jan. 23, will feature the election.
