A home on the 3500 block of T Street NW was burglarized Monday morning and a laptop and a handbag were stolen, according to police. The residents were at home during the incident.

Second District Lt. John Hedgecock explained the incident in a post on a Metropolitan Police Department listserv:

"On January 7, 2012, between 10:40 and 10:50 am, two unknown male perpetrators forced their way into the occupied dwelling through the rear basement door. Residents on the upper levels of the home heard the sound of glass breaking and loud footsteps. As residents made their way to the living room, they observed two male subjects running from the rear of the home into the alleyway. The subjects were last seen running east in the alley towards 35th Place.
