Police Warn of Indecent Exposure Near P Street Bridge

Man seen exposing himself near Rock Creek bridge flees toward Rose Park, police report.

A man exposed himself near a woman in the area around the P Street bridge over Rock Creek Parkway Saturday, according to police.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. on the 2300 block of P Street just as the woman was crossing the bridge between Georgetown and Dupont Circle.

According to a note from Second District Lt. John Hedgecock the victim reported that as she passed the man on her way to the bridge:

"She noticed he had his pants down to his ankles, fully exposing his genitals while staring directly at her. The victim hurriedly passed the subject and attempted to warn two females that were walking in the direction of the subject. As she explained to them what she observed him doing, the subject hastily mounted a bicycle and fled west bound on P Street in the direction of Rose Park."

According to Hedgecock's report the suspect is a white male, approximately 40 to 50 years old, of medium height and was last seen wearing a blue jacket.

Hedgecock assured neighbors that both the Metropolitan Police Department the the U.S. Park Police will be closely monitoring the area near the bridge.
